Sound Effects
For this workshop we had to put sound fx as well ambience into a scene of out choice. I chose to use a scene from the wire. When deciding what sound effects to use i thought of the nature of the scene and also what kind of show the Wire is.
I decided to add in gun shots, police sirens, background chatter, and the sound of someone smoking a cigarette. To get theses sound effects i had to go online and sign up to different sound libraries so i was able to find the perfect sounds and download them. Once i found the sounds i downloaded them and added them to my garage band. At first i took the sound off of the original so i just had the visuals, this made it easier to add my sounds and work out how loud i needed each sound to be. Once i had played around and work out where each part need to be i then added the original sound back in to see if it all worked.
At first some of my sounds were too loud for the scene, such as the police sirens and gun shots were too loud and the distance between them weren't right, so i edited these so they weren't as loud, i changed so it sounded further away which worked much better, i also left a bigger gap between when the gun shots went off and when the police sirens went off.
For me getting the smoking part was difficult getting it just in time for when he inhales and getting the sound in sync but i think it came out as well as it could.
Overall i think this workshop was successful and i felt i did learn a new skill as I found getting thensounds oerfect and in point quite difficult but now i’m Much more confident and I have a better idea of what i’m Doing !
