For this workshop we ha to add a voice over to a scene that didn't already have a voice over on currently. We discussed many different types of voice overs and how to do them then we proceed to do one ourselves. A voice overs are used to help establish a characters emotions, thoughts or opinions, flashbacks or simply used as a narrator.

I chose to use a scene from Devil Wears Prada as i wanted to use a film with a strong female lead. I used garage band to record and edit. At first i tried talking directly into garageband  but found this didn't work as a lot of background noise got in it especially as i was recording in a class environment so it picked up everything. My next option was to use my headphones and talk into the microphone. This was much better as you could just hear my voice and it was much clear and  better to edit. When i tried this time i went off into a quiet space and recorded my speech as this was easier. With the tools garageband already has i was able to quieten down my voice so it wasn't so empowering and so that it does naturally fit in the scene. If i was to do a professional voice over then more professional equipment would be needed but i was able to work with the equipment i have.

When deciding what to say i thought about the nature of the scene and the whole film, this helped me with what i wanted to say. I was being the character of Andrea who's played by Anne Hathaway. In my opinion shes finally happy to be free of Miranda and she finally stood up for herself and i think this shows in my scene.

Creating Own Music over a scene

For this workshop we had to create our own music to go over a scene. We were instructed to use garageband again to create the musical scores for our scene.  In this workshop i chose a scene from Incidious. I chose the scene as I thought I would be able to create some spooky music as it’s a scare scene from a horror movie. I felt like it would be me a challenger which it did and I enjoyed playing around with different instruments until I was able to find the perfect instrument and begin making my score. For this we created our own music to put over a scene. We used garageband to create and record our own sounds that we thought fit our chosen scene. I used musical typing to make the music. As i chose a horror film i wanted to have an eery, scary sort of sound. Once i played around a bit with the keyboard and i had a better understanding of how to use the musical typing, i  then began searching for different instruments. Garage band have a whole range and endlessly supply of...
